Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting and Reporting Specialist to join our finance team. This is anew role added to the Finance team with opportunity for development and growth within the department and role itself. The Accounting and Reporting Specialist will play a critical role in providing support to various members of the finance department. This role requires strong accounting and reporting skills with a primary focus on managing 1099’s and W-2’s. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, well-versed in tax regulations, and capable of working with various financial tools and software.

Essential Functions

  • Provide support and backup to members of the finance department as needed, including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Payroll, Accounting, and Financial Reporting.
  • Manage and assist with the end-to-end process of 1099 and W-2 reporting, including data collection, verification, printing, distribution, and submission to regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of financial reports, statements, and other finance documents as requested by management
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, or opportunities for process improvement
  • Proficiently use financial software and tools to streamline accounting and reporting processes, such as accounting software, Excel, and reporting systems
  • Ensure all financial transactions and reports comply with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards and finance policies
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records, ensuring all documentation is readily accessible for audits or inquiries.
  • Review and help maintain standard operating procedures within the Finance Department with the assistance of the Finance Director and/or Deputy Finance Director
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary financial data and information, as well as effectively communicate financial matters to non-financial colleagues
  • Work with County wide department leadership to create and develop customized financial reports
  • Perform various accounting tasks as needed and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes to include reconciling, journal entries, and generating reports

Requirements

  • Associate degree in accounting, Finance or related field
  • Experience in accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance, with minimum of years in a similar role.

  • Proficiency in accounting software, Excel, and financial reporting tools
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a part of a team
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment and dynamic finance environment
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of 1099 and W-2 reporting requirements and tax regulations
  • Experience with Tyler Accounting software, and especially with Incode
  • Report writing, auditing, and previous accounts payable and payroll experience are a bonus
  • Proven Accounting experience may substitute for the education requirement on a yearly basis in addition to the minimum experience requirement
