Job Description:

The Bookkeeper is a key member of the accounting team responsible for delivering accurate, timely bookkeeping services and clear communication to clients of the firm. This role requires strong ownership of assigned responsibilities, along with initiative to identify and solve problems. The ideal candidate thrives in a client-facing environment, values accuracy and confidentiality, and embraces both independent work and teamwork in a growing firm. Core responsibilities include accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, organizing and recording transactions, adjusting journal entries, and supporting compliance requirements, while ensuring client satisfaction and confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Maintaining records according to GAAP and GASB rules including the recording of general journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and reconciliation of General ledger accounts.

• Applying strong accounting skills, including A/P, A/R, purchasing backup, journal entries, and all bookkeeping through financial statement preparation

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements for client review.

• Assist with sales tax filings, 1099/W-9 management, and coordination with tax preparers.

• Communicate directly with clients to gather information, clarify discrepancies, and provide status updates on their accounts.

• Utilize cloud-based platforms (QuickBooks Online, Double.app, online payroll platforms, Aplos, Xero, Wave, Microsoft 365 apps, etc.) and maintain digital document management practices.

• Suggest process improvements, efficiencies, and technology tools to strengthen the firm’s operations.

• Support team collaboration, including sharing best practices and assisting colleagues when needed.

• Protect client confidentiality and comply with data security policies.

• Performing other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

• Two or more years of office or bookkeeping experience

• Payroll skills and use of common bookkeeping software are required, previous experience in accounting and QuickBooks or related programs

• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping practices and procedures

• Accuracy and attention to detail is absolutely required, as well as a track record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint

• Ability to work independently with little supervision

• Ability to organize and prioritize effectively

• Attention to detail with exceptional level of accuracy

• Ability to interpret data and make cost effective decisions

• Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with deadline pressures

• Proactive, resourceful, and self-motivated problem solver who can work independently with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrated ability in dealing directly with clients
