Job Description:
The VP of Mortgage Loans is responsible for the maintenance, oversight, and overall condition of the mortgage loan portfolio. Performs supervision of AVP of Mortgage Loan Operations and Mortgage Loan Officers. Support the Board of Directors & President with loan compliance and daily operations of the Bank. Promotes Quality Service Standards set by Bank, and actively cross-sells bank products and services.
Leadership Responsibilities:
• Direct supervisor for the AVP Mortgage Loan Operations and Mortgage Loan Officers. Secondary supervisor for Mortgage operations staff and Mortgage Loan Servicers.
• Understand and Support the High Country Bank Mission Statement and commits to adhere to the Values of Honesty, Excellence, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork.
• Understand and Support the Business Plan of the Bank
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervise servicing and processing personnel. Guide the AVP Mortgage Loan Operations in training and work assignments of personnel in servicing and processing.
• Supervise Mortgage Loan Officers. Guide the training and work assignments for Mortgage Loan Officers.
• Responsible for reviewing and assigning new loan files to processing personnel.
• Complete and conduct performance reviews on AVP Mortgage Loan Operations and Mortgage Loan Officers. Assist AVP Mortgage Loan Operations with performance review of Servicing and Processing Personnel.
• Ensure mortgage loan agreements are complete and accurate according to Bank policy.
• Meet regularly with the Chief Operating Officer to discuss mortgage loan applications in process.
• Responsible for underwriting and reviewing residential mortgage loans.
• Responsible for maintaining a loans in process schedule.
• Responsible for maintaining the Loan Application Register.
• Approve all closing documents and disbursements on each loan.
• Responsible for a complete audit in each loan file.
• Responsible for loan vault retention, record retention and final audits.
• Responsible for obtaining answers for loan customers on issues related to transactions in process or related to files after loan closing.
• Responsible for the overflow origination of new mortgage loans.
• Update all mortgage loan policies annually.
• Responsible for reviewing and submitting all current and new appraiser information for approval from the Board of Directors annually.
• Responsible for updating and training on loan software.
• Work with Mortgage Loan Officers and other personnel on the marketing and development of new mortgage loan products.
• Responsible for monthly reports to the Board.
• Responsible for ensuring all secondary market requirements are met for loans sold.
• Responsible for overseeing collections of delinquent mortgage loans.
• Responsible for overseeing mortgage loans in foreclosure and bankruptcy.
• Along with AVP, is responsible for the selection, scheduling, coaching, performance review, and discipline of Mortgage Loan Department employees.
• Serves on the following High Country Bank committee: Loan Committee, Compliance Committee, IT/E-Banking committee, Interest Rate Risk committee, ALCO Committee, Insurance Committee, and Asset Classification Committee.
Compliance Requirements:
• Ensure Compliance with all internal controls and established policies and procedures.
• Ensure and understand loan compliance requirements of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Office of Foreign Assets Control Regulations (OFAC)/Reporting of Currency Transactions (CTR)/Reporting of Suspicious Activity (SAR)/Monetary Instrument Log/Customer Identification/Customer Due Diligence (CDD)/Anti Money Laundering Regulations; Identity Theft Prevention; Unfair, Deceptive, Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP); and Deposit Regulations (Reg CC, E, P).
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Extensive knowledge of the laws, regulations, and subjects applicable to Mortgage lending products and services: Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Unfair, Deceptive, Abusive, Acts, Practices (UDAAP), Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), E-Sign, Privacy, Identity Theft, Marketing, Fair Lending, etc.
• Excellent knowledge of Mortgage lending products and services.
• Advanced Math Skills- 10 key; high level of proficiency of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
• Integrity, ability to work independently, and strong problem solving skills.
• Exceptional collaboration skills.
• Desire to work as part of a high performing, demanding team.
• Strong verbal, written communication skills.
• Specialized Bank Training.
• Previous Supervisory Experience Preferred
Education and Experience:
• BA/BS degree or relevant work experience.
• Must be licensed to lend in the State of Colorado.
• Must be a licensed notary in the State of Colorado.
