SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Streets Crew Supervisor, the Streets Maintenance Technician II is responsible for the maintenance of Town’s right of way assets and utilities. This is a non-CDL licensed position.

Salary Range: $51,160-69,066 DOE
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Right of Way and Utility Maintenance
Perform maintenance, repair services, and snow removal on Town right of way assets
Perform traffic flagging and related safety functions at job sites
Operate various hand tools and light and heavy equipment
Remove snow and ice from Town right of ways and pedestrian sidewalks
Repair potholes and pavement
Perform utility locations
Install and maintain street and traffic signs/posts
Paint traffic markings on curbs, streets, parking lines, and crosswalks
Paint, repair, and service fire hydrants
Participate in the annual Spring Cleanup
Operate a mobile radio to communicate
Maintain and repair Town utility infrastructure
Perform asset management data entry and records maintenance
Complete other tasks and special projects as assigned
Safety
Demonstrate compliance with all Town and Public Works Department safety procedures, regulations, and policies
Perform routine pre/post-use safety checks of equipment and minor maintenance on vehicles and equipment
High school diploma or equivalent; Valid Driver’s License; one (1) to two (2) years of work experience in street maintenance and the operation of related equipment or one (1) to two (2) years of experience as a Streets Maintenance Tech I; Flagger Certification and Confined Spaces required or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire; CPR and First Aid training is required throughout employment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of: general maintenance, construction, tools, and equipment; occupational hazards and safety precautions; safe driving practices.
Skill in: safe operation of tools and equipment; working independently with little supervision; effective communication.
Environmental Factors:
Duties of this job are regularly performed outside in all types of weather, with high UV rays in the summer and cold temperatures in the winter. Employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle in all types of weather. Work may be performed in confined spaces and at heights up to 25 feet. Must be able to accommodate an on-call schedule as required on a rotating basis.
Physical Factors:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to coordinate hands and eyes in using equipment. The employee must be able to climb to heights of 10 ft, walk, reach with hands and arms, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, talk and hear over the phone, radio, and in person. The employee must be able to sustain heavy physical exertion, for extended periods of time, and be able to lift more than fifty pounds (50 lbs.) and occasionally move objects up to one hundred pounds (100 lbs.).
