Position Type: Full-time, 260 days per year

Location: Bus/Warehouse

Salary: Pay for this position is determined by the Coordinator Salary Schedule based on years of experience, education Certified Mechanic Salary Schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Four to six years of job-related experience, preference for experience in a fleet setting
  • CDL License with P2 and “S” endorsement required
  • CDE Annual Inspector Certification required or ability to obtain this within 6 months of hire
  • Air Brake Certification required or ability to obtain this within 6 months of hire
  • DOT physical exam preferred at hire, required within 30 days after hire
  • First Aid Certification required within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a school atmosphere with staff members, students and the public.
  • Ability to effectively read, write, speak and listen to comply with directions and instructions to complete tasks and establish priorities.
  • Integrity, trust and work ethic to be able to work with little supervision.
  • Competent understanding of technology to perform the job.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical
  • Ability to perform light lifting and moving of product (up to 50lbs)
  • Physical strength and coordination to operate the necessary equipment for the job.

SKILLS: Specific skills required to perform the job include:

  • Operating equipment used in bus maintenance
  • Planning and managing projects
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Knowledge of District organization, policies and procedures

DUTIES:

  • Diagnoses potential vehicle malfunctions for the purpose of determining needed vehicle repairs and/or replacement.
  • Inspects buses, transportation vehicles and equipment for the purpose of ensuring they are in safe operating condition.
  • Maintains and repairs equipment (buses, tractors, trucks, vans, etc.)
  • Maintains tools and shop equipment.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns..
  • Services buses and transportation equipment for the purpose of ensuring it is maintained in a safe operating condition and scheduled preventative maintenance is performed.
  • Working closely with the Manager of Transportation.
  • Possess skills to be able to utilize basic technology as directed by the District to communicate and function effectively.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
